Is it wise to contact the lender before an auction to let them know that you plan to bid? My thought is that they may be more willing to discount the opening bid if they know someone will be there.
I have called smaller trustees and suggested an opening bid. Can’t remember a time it made a difference, but certainly can’t hurt.
