Will a cahiers check that is over 30 days old be accepted at an auction in California and Oregon?
Cashiers checks don’t expire. However, I have heard that one or two trustees (Not sure which ones? Anyone know?) will not accept checks that are dated past 60 days. So to play it safe, it’s probably advisable to refresh (have the bank reissue) every couple of months. That said, I suspect it’s only a minority of trustees who are refusing stale checks. I bought a property in CA last month with checks that were 90 days old and there was no problem.
